Sombre day in Phnom Penh

Today we went out to the 'Killing fields' at Cheung Ek on the outskirts of Phnom Pehn. It was a sad place to visit for me as it shows the futility of ill thought  out ideology and how much suffering it can cause. I have nowhere near the adequate vocabulary to describe my feelings to you  but I was interested in being at a place that formed my first view of what an atrocity looks like.
In the Daily Mirror as an 11 year old I read John Pilger's reports and saw the photographs from a country known then to me as Kampuchea (I already knew it's capital was Phnom Pehn). We visited the S21 prison at Tuol Sleng later which was also upsetting but an important thing to do.
We went for a sunset cruise then a drink at the Foreign Correspondents  Club.
