Raffles prize

Today was our last full day in Cambodia. We started off by visiting Psar Thmei - The Central Market, to get sandals for Sue and smart short trousers (or long shorts) for me. I also got a new strap for my Soviet watch. It still ticks after nearly 50 years (as do i).
We returned to the hotel pool for a swim before our bike ride across and into the
Mekong's Islands with Vichet from Grasshopper tours to
Koh Dach or Silk Island and Koh Ocnha Tei.
The trip comprises three local ferry trips across the river and around a 20km ride around the islands which are a world away from the bustle and noise of Phnom Penh.
It was very hot on those bikes but neither of us fell off and despite the joint perils of cattle and a body of water, Sue stayed comparitvely dry!!.
After returning to our hotel via street food another swim beconed.
We ended the day, as it was roughly Pimms o'clock by then, venturing North to Raffles Hotel.
A delightful end to our day in Cambodia's welcoming capital city.

  1. I fear a dip in the Mekong would not have ended as happily as the the great Grand Union incident.
