We started our four night five day bike tour of the Mekong delta. We are cycling from Chau Doc on the Cambodian border to Vietnam's largest city, Saigon (officially Ho Chi Mih City).
Today we took in a 60kms plus cycle to Cao Lahn through quaint villages set against rice fields and branches of the Mekong.
In fact, water is everywhere. That's why I'm so afraid of Sue falling in.
We started out at 7:30 to see a Catfish farm under a floating house and got to feed the fish!
Then we cycled almost 40k (with breaks) until it got hit then we stopped for lunch and had a snooze on hammocks to see out the hottest part of the day.
Then it was a final push to Cao Lanh. Tomorrow is not as far - Can Tho is the destination via the old French influenced town of Sadec.
The one thing that stood out today was everyone was shouting "Hello" when they saw us and they all had friendly faces. Pictures tomorrow - we will have more time, apologies.
When did they change it officially from Ho Chi Minh City?
ReplyDeleteI bet you had more cheery greetings and saw more friendly faces in one day than in 30 years of playing cricket Nigel.
